Newish, Pewish and Jewish: What We Can Learn from the 2020 Pew Survey on Jewish Americans

Tuesday, October 12, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Free

Join Joellyn Zollman, Ph.D, to discuss highlights from the latest national survey of Jewish American life. Dr. Zollman will offer a historian’s perspective on what these surveys can tell us about ourselves and our communities, with a specific focus on findings that are relevant to San Diego. While it is not necessary to review the survey beforehand, those who are interested in reading it can find a copy at the following link: https://www.pewforumjoel.org/2021/05/11/jewish-americans-in-2020/

Joellyn Zollman holds a Ph.D. in Jewish history from Brandeis University. She recently curated the exhibition, “Celebrate San Diego! The History and Heritage of San Diego’s Jewish Community,” at the San Diego History Center in Balboa Park. Locally, she has taught classes on Jewish history, American religion, and religious art and architecture at San Diego State University, UCSD, and the San Diego Center for Jewish Culture. Together with her family, she has been a member of Beth Israel for 21 years.

There is no fee, but please RSVP for planning purposes. This event is held virtually on Zoom. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the event. For more information, contact Program Director Ilene Tatro at itatro@cbisd.org.
