For over 30 years, Beth Israel’s San Diego Hunger Project relies on wonderful volunteers like you to help us serve lunch to hundreds of San Diego’s homeless and hungry on Sunday mornings at St. Vincent de Paul Village. Your help is needed to set up, serve and clean up. Beth Israel provides food, funding and volunteers for this program. Cash donations are also needed. The Men’s Club coordinates volunteers for the Hunger Project on the 5th Sunday of the month. The Beth Israel Hunger Project was founded by member Joan Kutner more than 25 years ago, and has fed hundreds of thousands in need. All volunteers agree to adhere to “Joan’s Rule,” the guiding principle of the Hunger Project’s founder:

Please greet everyone you serve with a smile and ‘Good Morning.’ You just may be the first person who has greeted them warmly in days, and you just might be getting their new week off to a better start.

Father Joe’s Villages are adding a layer of security in order to add to their awareness as to who is on their campus. Going forward there will be an additional step needed in order to volunteer at the Hunger Project. To sign up please follow these instructions:

Once you arrive, you will check-in on a tablet with Security. Please note that minors will be prompted to print out a new MOA/Food Handlers and Parent Authorization form. Please return it to: volunteer@neighbor.org
