Building for the future

Restoring our campus & creating a mikvah

Our temple faces the necessary challenges of maintaining our buildings adequately and appropriately. At the same time, we have a unique opportunity to construct a mikvah on the Beth Israel campus and establish a mikvah program for our membership and for the greater San Diego Jewish community.

Meet Jason

I currently serve as one of the co-chairs of the Congregation Beth Israel Social Action Network. Growing up in Puerto Rico, I saw firsthand the challenges faced by the historically neglected communities within our society and quickly learned the importance of Tikun Olam. Congregation Beth Israel has given me a platform to continue helping others, while also creating opportunities to meet other congregants and help them give back to the broader San Diego community.

Meet Marty

Upon retiring to San Diego after being a public school teacher in Ohio, I found a new home at Beth Israel by becoming involved in many different activities. You can find me on Friday evenings, greeting people as they come into Erev Shabbat services, or on Saturday mornings learning at the Torah Study or participating in the Minyan service.

Joan And Jeff Harris

Meet Joan and Jeff

We did not come to San Diego for the weather! We came to be close to our grandkids! We joined Beth Israel 3 months after moving here from the East Coast. Jeff was immediately welcomed and immersed in Men’s Club activities while Joan began organizing group kayak trips, picked up pickleball with a vengeance, and took over organizing the Beth Israel Sunday meal deliveries to Rachel Women's Center. Having met so many new friends here, we are especially excited that our two oldest San Diego grandkids are now in religious school.
