Youth Groups
Beth Israel's youth programs are designed to assist our youth and teens in developing lifelong friendships. Youth group participants create memories together as they enjoy everything from game nights to community service opportunities and beyond. Our youth groups offer opportunities for teens to emerge as young leaders, both in our BITY/BBYO youth group, but also in forming our Justice League board that plans community service opportunities for our 6th and 7th grade group.
Beth Israel has three youth groups:
- J2 (Jr. Jr.) for youth in 3rd-5th grade
- Justice League for youth in 6th-7th grades
- BITY/BBYO and the group is for 8th -12th grade
Youth & Teen Music Program
Beth Israel offers opportunities for students of various ages and abilities to participate in creating music. Rabbi Cantor Jeremy Gimbel and Rabbi Cantor Emerita Arlene Bernstein direct our youth music program, which includes Youth Choir, Teen Choir and Teen Band.
Youth Choir
The Youth Choir, comprised of singers in Grades 2-6, rehearses every Sunday that Religious School is in session. Pizza and juice are served to Youth Choir members at 11:30 a.m. and rehearsal follows in the Foster Family Chapel. Parents may pick up children at 12:35 p.m.
Teen Choir
Our congregation has the rich treasure of a magnificent core of talented teenagers who can elevate the soul with their sound. They help lead worship at Family Services as well as sing at concerts and special events. Teens who have begun their Bar/Bat Mitzvah studies at Beth Israel are eligible to join the Teen Choir.
