Caring Comm

No Beth Israel member should be alone in time of need.

A Caring Community is the community we – the members of Beth Israel – build. If you would like to make a difference in someone’s life, or if you are in need of help, please let us know on the Contact Us form at the bottom of this page, or by reaching out to Caring Community Director Katey Lindley at, or 858-900-2525. We are also always looking for volunteers to help us Fill Our Freezer for our Mish Bags or New Baby Bags.

Members are welcome to volunteer for committees. For more information about meeting times and dates, please contact the staff liaison. Your participation is appreciated. Information is available here:

The Healing Project

We are all in need of healing these days and what better way to heal than by providing a mitzvah to those we hold close to our heart. Caring Community invites Beth Israel members to participate in the creation of two healing quilts that mirror each other, one for our community and one to be presented to our sister region, Sha’ar HaNegev.

No sewing experience needed! Register and receive one packet, containing a two 10”x10” piece of muslin and instructions. Some embellishments and Judaica templates will be available on Sundays from 9-11:30am during Religious School (March 24, April 7, 14 and May 5.) Each square will be completed by participant and must be returned to Caring Community for assembly into a panel no later than May 24th.

For further information contact Katey Lindley at

$18 per kit (includes two squares and some supplies). Can’t go, but want to give? Donation options available on registration form.
