Facing God Before–and During–the High Holidays
Tuesday, September 6, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Tuesday, repeating until Tuesday, September 13, 2022
Judaism, and all religions, are about ultimate truths. The High Holydays call us to re-examine and possibly recast our relationships with God and the universe. As we prepare to enter the Jewish New Year, eternal questions face us once again. How do we live a life of meaning in a turbulent and often violent world? What makes sense as we live through life’s absurdities, losses, and tragedies? What does the Torah teach us about comforting one another as we journey through life? What can we do to make a difference in the world? And, really now, where is God in all of this?
Rabbi Richard Agler, author of The Tragedy Test: Making Sense of Life-Changing Loss (2018), co-editor of A God We Can Believe In (2022), and co-Director of the Tali Fund, Inc., will examine these questions and more through a lens that is intensely personal as well as universal. Books will be available for purchase at the sessions but can be ordered in advance from RichardAgler.com. When they are purchased from that website, as opposed to from other mass-market retailers, a portion of the proceeds goes to the Tali Fund.
