Previous class students and new students are welcome.

This course is for Hebrew beginners and intermediate levels, no writing skills are necessary. The class will meet on Tuesdays, March 5, 12, 26, and April 2, 9 and 16.
Students participating in this course will learn the following:
• How to use tools available on the internet to properly translate, conjugate and pronounce Hebrew.
• Translate English greetings and basic sentences into Hebrew and incorporate them into daily conversations.
• Basic colors and shapes from classical Israeli children’s songs. Advanced lyrics in Hebrew using English-Hebrew transliteration.
• Introduction to Israel’s most popular singers & bands by learning Hebrew through their song lyrics.
Lessons will begin by reviewing the previous class’s words and using them in different contexts for better understanding. We will use the Hebrew Bible and contemporary Israeli culture to unpack etymology and historical context of the words we will be learning.

Tomer Osman is a Senior Water Treatment Process Engineer, born and raised in Israel and moved to San Diego two years ago. He has 4 years of experience as a teacher (mostly math & science), and this will be his second course teaching conversational Hebrew at Beth Israel. Tomer possesses an extensive knowledge of Israeli-Jewish history, as well as an academic understanding of the Hebrew language, both biblical and contemporary.
