A Seder for Rosh Hashanah?

Thursday, September 2, 2021 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Free
The Seder Yehi Ratzone, a distinctive Sephardic/Mizrahi home ritual, features symbolic foods and blessings for the new year.  On Rosh Hashanah, it is traditional to dip apples and honey in hopes of a sweet new year. Jews around the world share other foods as well: pomegranates, pumpkins, beans, beets, and dates–foods that grow abundantly and symbolize prosperity. Rahel Musleah, who was born in Calcutta, India, to a Baghdadi-Jewish family, will guide us through a seder full of fun and delicious wishes and other fall holiday customs and melodies that set a spiritual tone for a year of optimism.

Born in Calcutta, Rahel Musleah is the seventh-generation of a Calcutta Jewish family that traces its roots to 17th-century Baghdad. Today, Rahel is a New York-based award-winning journalist, author, singer, speaker and educator. She is the author of Apples and Pomegranates: A Family Seder for Rosh Hashanah (Lerner/Kar-Ben; pre-order here).

There is no fee, but please RSVP for planning purposes. This event is held virtually on Zoom. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the event. For more information, contact Program Director Ilene Tatro at itatro@cbisd.org.
