We will begin by defining rituals, how they got started, and how they can benefit individuals and communities.  Next, we will see examples of Jewish ritual objects and discuss whether they enhance or detract from religious practice.  Finally, we will look at the visual aspects of some of the objects to consider them as art to see if they changed over the centuries.

Artist and Educator Jane Lazerow holds an MFA from UCSD and has had her art exhibited throughout San Diego since the early 1980s. Her unique shared expertise of art and Judaism is the key that unlocks how she will share with us the evolution of Jewish ritual objects. She herself paints ancient stories and myths, biblical narratives, and personal dramas with a focus on human interactions.
