Remarkable Jewish Women of San Diego with Dr. Gloria Harris

Thursday, July 9, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Free

Throughout San Diego’s history, remarkable Jewish women have paved the way for others. Rose Neumann published our city’s first Jewish newspaper. Deborah Szekely founded the world’s first fitness resort. Lynn Schenk was elected the first congresswoman south of Los Angeles and Shelley Zimmerman became San Diego’s first female Chief of Police. Dr. Harris will share the stories of many extraordinary local Jewish women.

Dr. Gloria G. Harris earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Washington. She coauthored Assertive Training for WomenSurviving Infidelity, Women Trailblazers of California, and Remarkable Women of San Diego.  Dr. Harris has served on numerous boards and commissions, including the Woman’s Museum of California, and was appointed by the County Board of Supervisors to serve on the Commission on the Status of Women (Chair, 2000) and the County Mental Health Advisory Board (Chair 2009). She has been named Mental Health America’s Volunteer of the Year and inducted into the San Diego Women’s Hall of Fame.
