Join Issi Doron, Ph.D., Head of the Center for Research and Study of Aging at the University of Haifa and Dilip V. Jeste, M.D., Director of the Stein Institute for Research on Aging at UC San Diego, as they lead a talk on how the elderly are particularly vulnerable under the current conditions of the pandemic. Together, they will discuss solutions and the recently MGSDII funded COVID-19 research collaboration. The program will include vulnerable elderly populations, including Holocaust survivors, in both San Diego and Israel. The COVID-19 pandemic is creating unprecedented challenges for older people. We all need to find innovative solutions to support older persons and make sure their rights are respected.

Issi Doron, Ph.D., is the Head of the Center for Research and Study of Aging at the University of Haifa. He is Israel’s foremost expert on aging and is known worldwide as the field’s international academic expert. He has written extensively on topics such as innovations on aging, socio-legal construction of old age, and human rights of older persons.

Dilip V. Jeste, M.D., is the Director of the Stein Institute for Research on Aging at UC San Diego. He completed his psychiatry residency at Cornell, and neurology residency at George Washington University. He started the Geriatric Psychiatry program from scratch at UC San Diego; today it is one of the largest Geriatric Psychiatry Divisions in the world.
