iEngage: Jewish Values and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

Thursday, February 4, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 6:30 pm on Thursday, repeating until Friday, May 27, 2016

Join Beth Israel as part of a community-wide conversation about Israel in partnership with the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America (SHI North America) iEngage Project. The Shalom Hartman Institute of North America sustains and strengthens the vision, commitment, and knowledge of leaders who shape the future of Jewish life in North America.

The iEngage: Jewish Values and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict curriculum aims to rectify internal Jewish communal challenges related to talking about the conflict by naming and working through the various values narratives that animate different political views. Through the study of internal Jewish narratives about Israel and unpacking the complex meanings of peace in Jewish tradition, this series aims to make participants more aware of the values that make up their own political views, and create a more stable pluralism in how we talk about this most divisive issue.

We are proud that we are participating in this San Diego-wide program which will include study of the SHI iEngage curriculum at nine San Diego Jewish community organizations framed by two public lectures.
