$5 – $8

Beth Accomando, KPBS

Culture vulture Beth Accomando will share with us what films are likely to be nominated for the Oscars and why. She will also give us insight about films she thinks may be overlooked. The 89th Academy Awards will take place on February 26, 2017. Accomando’s talk will give you all the insight you’ll need to catch any films in advance of the awards.

Beth Accomando is an arts and culture reporter at KPBS. She runs the blog and weekly podcast called Cinema Junkie. Accomando has served on the film selection committees for the San Diego Asian Film Festival, San Diego Italian Film Festival, and San Diego Latino Film Festival. She is part of the volunteer film programmers group known as The Film Geeks at the Digital Gym Cinema and is in the middle of a yearlong tribute to Hammer Films. She has won numerous Society of Professional Journalism, San Diego Press Club and Southwestern Area Emmy Awards. Accomando also freelances for NPR covering film and pop culture.
