A shooting in the Brussels Jewish Museum kills four people. Pro-Gaza protestors in Berlin chant, “Jews, Jews, cowardly swine.” In Frankfurt and Dortmund, demonstrators chant, “Hamas, Hamas, Jews to the gas.” Signs in Rome urge a boycott of 50 businesses owned by Jews. Parisian Jews are trapped in a synagogue and have to be rescued by the police. Four people are killed at a Jewish day school in Toulouse, France.

As conflicts in Israel and other areas of the world persist, new waves of antisemitism are being reported. What is happening in the United States, Europe, Israel, and elsewhere? What are the challenges and threats facing the Jewish people today? Will antisemitism ever be eradicated?

Join outspoken law professor Alan Dershowitz and renowned historian Deborah Lipstadt as they discuss and debate many facets of this timely and important issue.

Professor Alan M. Dershowitz has been called “the nation’s most peripatetic civil liberties lawyer” and one of its “most distinguished defenders of individual rights,” as well as “America’s most public Jewish defender” and “Israel’s single most visible defender – the Jewish state’s lead attorney in the court of public opinion.” He is the Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law at Harvard Law School.

Deborah Lipstadt is a historian and author of the books Denying the Holocaust and The Eichmann Trial. She was a consultant to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and is the Dorot Professor of Modern Jewish and Holocaust Studies at Emory University.

Fee: $5 for Beth Israel members; $10 for nonmembers (includes light refreshments).
