DayTimers Speaker Series: Dr. Gloria Harris

Thursday, October 19, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

$5 – $8

REMARKABLE JEWISH WOMEN OF SAN DIEGO

Throughout San Diego’s history, remarkable Jewish women have paved the way for others. Rose Neumann published our city’s first Jewish newspaper. Deborah Szekely, known as “Godmother of the Wellness Movement” founded the world’s first fitness resort and the New Americas Museum in Liberty Station. Lynn Schenk was elected as the first congresswoman from California south of Los Angeles, and Shelley Zimmerman became San Diego’s first female Chief of Police. Psychologist and author Dr. Gloria Harris will share these and many more stories of extraordinary local women.

Gloria began her career as a clinical psychologist in the early seventies after receiving her doctorate from the University of Washington. Her co-authored books include Assertive Training for Women, Surviving Infidelity, Women Trailblazers of California, and Remarkable Women of San Diego. She has been appointed to numerous boards and commissions and previously served as Chair of the San Diego County Commission on the Status of Women and the County Mental Health Board.  Gloria has been recipient of the Mental Health Volunteer of the Year award and inducted into the San Diego Women’s Hall of Fame.
