Men’s Club Dinner Forum October 2017

Beth Israel’s Men’s Club is pleased to announce that Rabbi Martin Lawson will be our guest speaker at the October 18, 2017 Dinner Forum where he will discuss –“Jewish Views of Bio-Ethics, difficult medical decisions and end-of-life issues.”
Rabbi Lawson received his BA in Education from the University of Florida and his Bachelor and Master of Hebrew Letters from Hebrew Union College where he also later received a Doctor of Divinity Degree. In 1974, he was ordained as a Rabbi. He came to San Diego in 1976 as the Assistant Rabbi of Temple Emanu-El and later became their Senior Rabbi. He helped grow the Congregation from 100 to 500-member families during his 36 years with the Temple.
Rabbi Lawson was also a founding member of, and an Instructor at the San Diego High School of Jewish Studies now called the Community Jewish High. He was a founder and former member of the Board of Directors of the San Diego Jewish Academy. He also served as Chairperson of the San Diego Task Force on Holocaust Commemoration for the Jewish Community Relations Council of the United Jewish Federation. (UJF).
Rabbi Lawson was also appointed to serve as a Jewish Representative on the San Diego Police Advisory Board. He is also a past President of the Pacific Association of Reform Rabbi’s and served three times as President of the San Diego Rabbinical Association. He also received the first award for Rabbinic Leadership from the UJF of San Diego County.
This program is open to the entire San Diego Community, both men and women. Temple or Men’s Club membership is not a requirement to attend. A buffet dinner will be served.
