Now is the Time to Share Your Voice

These past days have brought me back to a memory of those many moments gazing upon the inscription proudly displayed on the front façade of the Unites States Postal Service building in NYC – the words forever associated with the American postal worker: “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds”.

As of late, this sacred motto has become compromised and wrought with divisive political expression. A few thoughts have surfaced for me which I felt eager to share with you, ever reflective of the Torah values of both preserving human life and having our voices counted in communal leadership:

  • We have a right to vote and a right to life. As a democracy, not one person should be forced to compromise their health in order to have their voice heard in a democracy.
  • The United States Postal Service, for today, sits at the center of a moral dilemma, and its role as an arbiter for both our democracy and health is essential as we navigate this challenging time.
  • Undermining public confidence in this institution degrades our leaders’ ability to prioritize one’s health and their respective voice in the democratic process.

In order to maintain our postal workers’ critical work, now is the time to share your voice. Call or email our elected officials as each of us demonstrates living our Torah values. Below, you will find links to contact info for Rep. Peters, Senators Feinstein and Harris.
