Yom Kippur Food for Thought – High Holy Days 2021/5782

Partake of some enticing “food for thought” on this somber day of fasting. After the morning service on Yom Kippur, we are offering a variety of learning opportunities.

Thursday, September 16

This programs is offered with diverse access. It will take place in the Feuerstein Family Activity Center and on Zoom.

Session 1 – 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Critical Race Theory, Cancel Culture, and Jewish Memory led by Rabbi Graubart

In this session, led by Rabbi Graubart, we’ll study Jewish texts and prayers that describe the ways we remember and tell our stories. We’ll compare these Jewish ideas to the current American fascination with how we teach history;, how we remember and tell our own stories, and how we regard sins of the past.

Session 2 – 1:15 pm – 2:00 pm

Sermon Talk Back with Rabbi Jason Nevarez

Join Rabbi Jason Nevarez as for a lively discussion and reflection on his Rosh Hashanah and Kol Nidre sermons, as we draw from personal experiences over these Days of Awe, and help to reframe our goals for 5782.
