Please join us as we learn from our very own Lesley Mills. She will be discussing her book, Merlin’s Garden, and sharing some of her own original paintings. Come and see how nature has influenced her life and how it can brighten your own life as well. Lesley will share her creative journey through pictures and story-telling on gardening, animals and painting and how her experiences impacted her perspective on life.

Lesley Mills became Executive Director for Beth Israel in 2007. But what you may not know is that Lesley is an ardent gardener, painter and writer.

With the creation of Merlin’s Garden, a quarter-acre plot of land in La Mesa, Lesley’s journey with gardening expanded to a blog and eventually oil painting.

Lesley showcases her artwork through her Etsy store. Her paintings have also been in juried art shows.  Her first book — Merlin’s Garden – Cultivating the Gardener Within – was published in the fall of 2020, during the height of the pandemic.  In addition to painting, Lesley continues her garden pursuits with a new property on Whidbey Island in the Pacific Northwest, where she plans to create a new garden and spiritual retreat that will inspire creativity, healing and hope. She is preparing a second book.
