A Literary Journey from the Bible to Modern Israel

Sizzling Summer Classes
Thursdays, July 16 – August 6, 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.
4 weekly sessions with Professor Nehama Aschkenasy, Ph.D.

Is there a distinct “Jewish” narrative? This class will consist of close reading of representative tales from the Bible, stories by S.A. Agnon, the only Hebrew Nobel Prize winner, and works by three of the most distinguished contemporary Israeli writers Amos Oz, Aharon Appelfeld, and David Grossman, and others. Dr. Aschkenasy is a Professor of Comparative Literary and Cultural Studies at the University of Connecticut and the Director, Center for Judaic and Middle Eastern Studies in University of Connecticut, Stamford.
