Bert Lazerow: Recovering Holocaust Art

The Men’s Club of Beth Israel of San Diego is proud to welcome Bert Lazerow as our featured speaker at the August 19 Dinner Forum. Bert’s presentation will focus on the subject of recovering Holocaust Art.

While Bert teaches and writes in the areas of contracts, art law and taxation, as well as comparative and international aspects of those subjects, he is considered an expert in the field of returning art stolen by the Nazi’s during WWII to the original owners.

Bert graduated from Harvard Law School in 1963 and taught at the University of Louisville and was a visiting professor at Université de Paris X Nanterre and University of California, Berkeley School of Law. He joined the School of Law faculty in 1967.

Bert was a legal writing teaching fellow at George Washington University and spent two years drafting regulations, legislation and tax treaties with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service’s Chief Counsel’s Office.

He was editor-in-chief of the International Tax Journal and is a member of the American Law Institute, where he serves on the tax advisory group and the members consultative groups for the restatement third of property, the study of the law of nonprofit organizations, and the restatement third of U.S. law of international commercial arbitration. He is also the director of USD’s Summer Study Programs.
