Men’s Club Dinner Forum – Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman

The Men’s Club of Beth Israel of San Diego is proud to welcome San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman as our featured speaker at the April 15 Dinner Forum. Chief Zimmerman’s presentation will provide an update of both police department issues and crime trends. She’ll also share her journey from undercover police officer to Police Chief.

Chief Zimmerman was hired by the San Diego Police Department in October 1992 and was promoted to the position of Chief on March 4, 2014.  She is a graduate of Ohio State University, with a degree in Criminal Justice, and also a graduate of the FBI National Academy. 

Within the San Diego Police Department, Chief Zimmerman has worked many of the patrol and investigative commands.  Her assignments have included Vice, Narcotics, Internal Affairs, the Multi-Cultural Community Relations Office, the Mayor’s Executive Protection Detail, the Narcotics Task Force, and the position of Field Lieutenant. 

The Chief has also assisted in security planning for large events in San Diego such as the Super Bowl, the Republican National Convention, major conferences, and the 4th of July Independence Day holiday at the beach that brings together more than a million San Diegans and visitors each year.

Chief Zimmerman has received numerous awards and citations throughout her career.   She received the San Diego Press Club Headliner of the year award for her undercover work, the San Diego Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business Exemplary Award for her civic work with business and residential communities, the San Diego Police Foundation Women in Blue Award for her commitment to making San Diego one of the safest large cities in the United States, and the Gold Key Award from the Hotel/Motel Association for her commitment to the Hospitality and Tourism Industry.

This program is open to the entire San Diego community.  A deli dinner will be served. The dinner fee: $14 with an RSVP, $17 without an RSVP. You may below RSVP below.
