Erev MLK Shabbat Service

Come honor the life and work of Martin Luther King Jr. at a special Erev Shabbat service on Friday, January 13th at 6:15 pm featuring our youth and teen choir and special guest speaker, Rev. Brittany Juliette Hanlin, Teaching Pastor of Water’s Edge Faith Community.

Rev. Hanlin is an inspiring and thought-provoking speaker, and we are honored to have her join us for this special occasion. She is proud to be the first African American ordained in the Iowa Conference of the United Church of Christ. Last year, she began her Doctorate of Ministry at Duke University.

The pursuit of justice is a core value in Judaism, and Dr. King was deeply influenced by his Christian faith and the social justice teachings of Judaism. Join us as we honor his legacy and the connections between Judaism, justice, and the Civil Rights movement.
