Netanya has been a member of Beth Israel since 2003. Both her kids experienced almost all that the religious school and Beth Israel offered throughout their childhood, from Tot Shabbat to their B’nai Mitzvah to the Platt Israel Trip. After her own adult Bat Mitzvah in 2006, she joined the Outreach committee, chairing it for two years. Additionally, she is on the Social Action Committee and the Tribe Committee. Netanya can be seen in the sanctuary most Erev Shabbat services, and the monthly Shira Hadasha service is her favorite. She enjoys the many diverse programs and activities offered at Beth Israel. Outside of Beth Israel, she is on the steering committee of a local Indivisible group, a loose network of progressive democrats, where, as Program Director for many years, she ensured the monthly meetings had speakers of all likes to learn with and to learn from.

For work, Netanya is a commercial real estate broker. Rabbi Berk officiated at her wedding with Karl, who was her partner in raising her kids as his own. They are now enjoying life as empty nesters, with both kids out of college and on their own. With 4 elderly pets to care for, they stick close to home, enjoying riding their electric bikes and seeing the Padres play.
