Candace has been an active member of Beth Israel since the mid 1990’s. Her now grown son Chase attended day school and Religious School at the Third and Laurel Campus and became a Bar Mitvah in 1999. Chase was very active in the musical company Show Biz. Candace became a Jew by choice and converted to Judaism under Rabbi Jonathan Stein and Rabbi Cantor Arlene Bernstein in 1996. In 2013 she became a Bat Mitzvah. In the past, she was an active member of the Lay Lead Saturday morning minyan and attended Torah Study regularly. In 2020 Marge Schane asked her to join the newly formed board of Women of Beth Israel. Candace was recently asked to serve on the board as Co President.

Today she has earned many awards from her involvement in the community. These honors include, but are not limited to, the Life Impact Award from Northwestern Mutual, the Tribute to Women in the Industry Award from the YMCA, and the Women Who Mean Business Award from the San Diego Business Journal. Additionally, she supports Serving Seniors who provide meals and services to seniors who are either at or below poverty level, the Vista Hill Foundation to minimize the stigma associated with mental health issues, and the San Diego Notables which supports bringing music awareness to underserved communities. She is a proud advocate of women’s rights and the LGBTQ+ communities. She is the past president and current first Friday Co-Chair for Women in Business, San Diego.

Professionally, Candace brings her beliefs, kind heart, and 25 years of knowledge to her career as a Northwestern Mutual financial advisor. Her firm, Berkman & Christian Wealth Management and Insurance Solutions is dedicated to bringing the concept of multigenerational wealth management and financial planning to the families she serves.
