Women of Beth Israel – Rosh Chodesh Adar – A Taste of Mussar

We are honored to welcome Rabbi Aliza Berk, who will be leading Rosh Chodesh Adar, “A Taste of Mussar.” The study of Mussar (Jewish Ethics) is intended to help individuals find a practical pathway to personal spiritual growth. After lighting a candle to honor the new month of Adar, we will focus on chesed, loving kindness, in our daily life, using guided meditation, text study, and group sharing to enrich our practice.

Rabbi Aliza Berk is a Chaplain, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Spiritual Director in Private Practice in San Diego. She leads bereavement support groups for Congregation Beth Israel and LightBridge Hospice and is a past President of the San Diego Rabbinical Association. The major focus of her work is to bring healing to those who have experienced chronic illness, loss and bereavement. She is married to Rabbi Michael Berk, Senior Rabbi Emeritus at Congregation Beth Israel and is the proud mother of a son and daughter, and grandmother of four precious grandchildren.

Rosh Chodesh events are a space for those who identify as female. Prior to the event, please watch this video: Rosh Chodesh: A Guide to the Cycles of Our Lives. Please bring a candle to light and a glass of wine, a cup of tea, or your favorite beverage.

There is no fee, but please RSVP for planning purposes. This event is held virtually on Zoom. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the event.
