ECC Program
Play-based, experiential learning in a warm and nurturing setting
Our program is inspired by the spirit of community, where children, parents, and staff feel a strong sense of partnership and belonging. We believe that children learn best in an environment that promotes active and experiential learning through trial and discovery. As a Jewish synagogue and early childhood center, we are a meeting ground for a variety of individuals and families. We welcome all children, regardless of religion, race, or cultural background to experience our exciting, nurturing program which incorporates both Jewish and universal values such as Tikkun Olam (healing the world), Tzedakah (charity and justice), and equal rights for all.
About our school
Our school is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We offer both full-time and part-time schedules to meet the needs of our families. We are open for year-round care, and are closed for all major Jewish and secular holidays.
We are lucky to have a beautiful facility on the Beth Israel campus. Our school includes 13 classrooms and 3 playgrounds. From our youngest learners to our pre-kindergarten classes, all of our students enjoy outside time daily taking advantage of the beautiful weather that San Diego has to offer.
Teacher & family involvement
We believe that a quality school is achieved through quality educators. Our teachers are passionate early childhood educators who enjoy teaching through a Jewish lens. All are certified in CPR, first aid, and are Live Scanned. Collectively, they have hundreds of years of teaching experience and most importantly, they have passion for their work.
A strong home and family connection is paramount to our program. We offer family programing for special events during the school year, as well as evening and weekend events. Parents are encouraged to attend these events to make memories with their children as well as make new friends too!
Warm, Welcoming, Inclusive Community
As an open and inclusive Jewish preschool in the heart of San Diego, we strive to provide care representative of the rich mosaic of Jewish life. We are committed to intentionally building this mosaic with our students, faculty, administration, and families through their diversity across ethnicity, race, nationality, Jewish identity and practice, interfaith family composition, sexual orientation, gender identity, life experiences, socio-economic status, perspectives, and worldviews. We value the dignity and self-worth of each member of our community.
While temple membership is not a requirement for enrollment, we encourage all our Jewish families to join the Congregation Beth Israel community as members. Learn more about synagogue membership.
