Dominican Republic Service Learning Trip

When: Friday, February 13 (late evening) to Saturday, February 21, 2026

Who: 9-12 grade students and adults

Where: We will be living and working in the village of La Guama in the northwest region of the Dominican Republic.

What: We will be building a home for a beneficiary family. More importantly, we will be participating in a cross-cultural exchange as well as witnessing the harsh realities of poverty and learning how to employ our Jewish values to lend our short-term and long-term support to another community.

Cost: The total cost of the program is $2600, which includes all program fees, air fare, transportation, and accommodation costs. This includes a generous subsidy from Beth Israel. $1000 of this total must be paid as part of your registration to Bridges to Community directly, and $1600 will be paid as part of your registration with Beth Israel. After submission, there will be an opportunity for online fundraising towards these fees.

Scholarship Opportunity: The Price Foundation has gifted funds for the 2026 trip that can help further offset the cost of the trip. The funds are both need-based and merit-based for students in grades 9-12 who are members of Beth Israel (a separate application is required to qualify for this scholarship, as they are limited).
