John is a native of Bucharest, Romania. He moved to San Diego in 2000. John and Angela, his spouse, have been involved in various capacities with Beth Israel since 2011, and members since 2012. They have two young children, Aaron and Alexandra (Bill and Sid Rubin preschool alumni and religious school students). John is involved with several committees at Beth Israel, including Finance, Membership, Governance, Nominating and Executive.
In his professional life, John is the Chief Financial Officer of the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center of San Diego. He was previously the Director of Internal Audit Services for Kaiser Permanente, the Director of Internal Audit for Sharp HealthCare, and held other management positions in Internal Audit and public accounting. He is Chair of the Audit Committee of the Jewish Family Service of San Diego, Vice Chair of the Audit Committee of the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, Audit Committee member of the La Jolla Institute of Immunology; and Past-President of the Institute of Internal Auditors, San Diego Chapter. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from San Diego State University and a Master’s degree in Accounting from University of Notre Dame.
