Humans of Beth Israel: Cecilia Carrick & Stanley Nadel

We reside in Point Loma. Our daughters and grandchildren reside in Austin, TX and Atlanta, GA.  Both daughters, Amy Nadel Slotin and Paige Nadel Caras, celebrated their bat mitzvah and confirmations at Beth Israel many years ago.

We are both retired physicians and we have done volunteer medical service in Madagascar, Fiji and the Peruvian Amazon.  Now we are deeply involved in local neighborhood improvement in Point Loma. For the past seven years Stan also served as a volunteer tutor/mentor for international students at San Diego State University.  We are also actively involved with AIPAC and Cecilia is actively involved in the Sogetsu school of Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging).  We enjoy playing bridge, cooking, travel, biking and attending theatre.  I was previously on the Board of the Old Globe.

We have attended High Holy Day services at Beth Israel for many years and are pleased to resume membership in the Temple.  For many years we have shared a monthly Shabbat celebration with a small group of friends, also members of Beth Israel

We greatly enjoy travel, recently in Japan.  We plan to travel shortly to Peru where Cecilia was raised before emigrating to the U.S.
