John is a native of Bucharest, Romania. He moved to San Diego in 2000. John and Angela, his spouse, have been involved in various capacities with Beth Israel since 2011, and members since 2012. They have two young children, Aaron and Alexandra (Bill and Sid Rubin preschool alumni and religious school students). John is involved with several committees at Beth Israel, including Finance, Membership, Governance, Nominating and Executive.
In his professional life, John specializes in financial and operational audit and advisory services to public and private organizations. John has been the Director of Internal Audit Services for Kaiser Permanente since 2023, and was the Director of Internal Audit for Sharp HealthCare between 2012-2023. He is Past-President of the Institute of Internal Auditors, San Diego Chapter; Vice Chair of the Audit Committee of the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, Chair of the Audit Committee of the Jewish Family Service, and an Audit Committee member of the La Jolla Institute of Immunology. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from San Diego State University and a Master’s degree in Accounting from University of Notre Dame
