Join us for an engaging evening of film, history, and conversation with Dr. Lawrence Baron, SDSU Professor Emeritus.
From “Abie’s Irish Rose” (1928) to “Keeping the Faith” (2000), Irish-Jewish love stories have been a common theme in American movies. This talk examines how these romances have conveyed varying messages from extolling the “Melting Pot” ideal, exposing inter-ethnic tensions, epitomizing interfaith toleration, and embracing multicultural diversity. The theme will be illustrated with clips from silent and more recent films.
The Men’s Club monthly Speaker’s Forum & Dinner is held in the Feuerstein Family Activity Center, with dinner from 6:30 to 7:00 pm followed by the presentation and discussion from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.
