Slugger in the Sukkah: The Designated Hebrew Dishes about his Years Playing Baseball and His Life as a Jew

Sunday, September 26, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Free
On the occasion when a spheroid and a long, thin object made from plants are waved,  as we spend two special days at the beginning and two more at the end of the rarified week away from home….

We’re not talking about Sukkot— no, the baseball playoffs!

Watch Ron Blomberg, the first designated hitter in major league history, preview the postseason and talk about his career as a slugger and his life as a Jew. Following the custom of Ushpizin – inviting heroes, dead and alive, to “join us” in the sukkah – we are inviting Ron as our Ushpizin guest.

Ron Blomberg, the first-ever designated hitter in baseball history, answers questions about his historic career as a ballplayer and his journey since as a Jew, including coaching in the Israel Baseball League.

There is no fee, but please RSVP for planning purposes. This event is held virtually on Zoom. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the event. For more information, contact Program Director Ilene Tatro at itatro@cbisd.org.
