As S’lichot ushers in the Days of Awe, we gather in the space between who we were and who we’re becoming. This year’s concert, “Choose Life: A S’lichot Concert” takes its name from our High Holy Day theme: Uvacharta Bachayim – Therefore Choose Life: Presence, Purpose, Belonging, and asks what that choice actually sounds like when we’re honest about our doubts, our scars, and our hope.
The evening moves like a night of teshuvah itself: naming the pain we carry, confronting who we are and who we still want to be, wrestling with distance from God and self, and finding the courage to act now rather than waiting for a more convenient moment. Songs about resilience and community and about taking the wheel of our own lives carry us toward the concert’s core conviction — that presence, purpose, and belonging are not given to us, but chosen, again and again, one shining moment at a time.
Featuring Heidi Gantwerk, Danny Myers, Becca Myers, Ari Gimbel, Anna Kemp, & Sophie Nevarez, and our clergy, accompanied by the Chai band, this S’lichot concert blends a cappella harmony, contemporary song, and personal testimony into a musical meditation on return — an invitation to step fully into your own life before the gates of the New Year open.
