ENTERTAINMENT AND COMPLIMENTARY PICNIC LUNCH INCLUDED!
This San Diego tradition brings together hundreds of people from diverse religious and cultural groups in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr’s legacy. Your whole family is invited to participate. As your work ends, you are also invited to stay and enjoy a complimentary picnic lunch of hot dogs and chips. Register at www.fumcsd.org/mlk. Make it a day on, not a day off!

9am Registration at the end of President’s Way parking lot
9:15am Opening Interfaith Ceremony
9:30am Cleanup/Beautification: Come dressed &prepared for physical work; we will be clearing,hauling brush and planting.
11:30am Musical entertainment and complimentary picnic lunch of hot dogs and chips
Parking available in Balboa Park at President’s Way parking lot off Park Boulevard
Pre-registration online here helps speed up check-in at the event!
Same-day registration day of the event at 9am.
Mandatory waiver. All participants need to fill out a waiver in order to work in the park; waivers available online here or on-site. If you are under 18 you also need a parent/caregiver signature. If your parent will not be present, bring a printed, signed copy of the waiver. Youth participants under 16 have to be accompanied by an adult.
What You’ll be Doing
Come dressed and prepared for physical work; we expect to be clearing and hauling brush, cleaning plant beds, spreading mulch and more.
What to Wear:
• Long-sleeved shirt
• Long pants
• Closed-toe shoes
What to Bring:
• Work gloves
• Work goggles, if you wish
• Pruning tools, if possible. Tools will also be provided.
• Your signed waiver form – obtain online or at registration table.
• Any additional picnic food or beverages you may want. Complimentary hot dogs and chips provided.
(Your picnic items can be left in your car close to the picnic area)
• Blanket or chairs for the picnic (optional)
