Joellyn Zollman presents an exciting talk on how American Jews came to be associated with delis, how American Jewish delis have changed over time, and the delis meaning and purpose in American Jewish life.

Joellyn Zollman holds a Ph.D. in Jewish history from Brandeis University. She recently curated the exhibition, “Celebrate San Diego! The History and Heritage of San Diego’s Jewish Community,” at the San Diego History Center in Balboa Park.

Locally, she has taught classes on Jewish history, American religion, and religious art and architecture at San Diego State University, UCSD, and the San Diego Center for Jewish Culture. Together with her family, she has been a member of Congregation Beth Israel for 19 years.

This program is open to the entire San Diego community, both men and women. Temple or Men’s Club Membership is not a requirement to attend.

A light brunch will be served. The fee is $8.00.
