Challenges of Terrorism: Lessons from Israel

We are honored to welcome Dr. Luba Levin-Banchik as our May Dinner Forum Guest Speaker. Dr. Luba Levin-Banchik is the Israeli Scholar in Residence at San Diego State University and has been teaching courses in the History and Political Science Departments at SDSU for the 2018/19 academic year. Her residency is supported by a grant from the Murray Galinson San Diego Israel Initiative and by the Lipinsky Institute for Jewish Studies endowment.

Dr. Levin-Banchik is both a political scientist and historian, studying the evolution of conflict and peace in contemporary international relations of the Middle East. Her expertise is in the field of global and regional security, international crisis escalation and recurrence, domestic and transnational terrorism, cooperation and violence between rivalries, and nonstate actors. Her current project focuses on what enemies do when they are not fighting and how their respite hostility affects crisis escalation into severe violence and wars. Dr. Levin-Banchik research has been published in Terrorism and Political Violence, Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, and  Media, War & Conflict. Her talk will be on the subject of “Challenges of Terrorism: Lessons from Israel”.

This program is open to the entire San Diego community, both men and women. Temple or Men’s Club Membership is not a requirement to attend.

Fee is $18 with RSVP, $20 without and includes a deli buffet. Open to all.
