Men’s Club Zoom Forum – Guri Stark: Artist, Author, Lecturer

Wednesday, January 20, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The next Speaker Forum (sponsored by the Men’s Club) will feature Guri Stark discussing Marc Chagall – Master of Dreams and Story Telling. Stark will present Chagall’s uniquely expressive and poetic paintings. We will see images of Chagall’s childhood memories, as well as floating people, flying goats, brides, grooms, and fiddlers on the roof that are shown in his paintings, stained glass windows, tapestries, and mosaics. Join us to learn what and who both motivated and influenced Chagall, and how he is unique. We will also see how his art fits in with other art movements.

Guri Stark is an artist, author, lecturer, and CEO of a high-tech company (www.GuriStark.com) and teacher of art and history. Guri was born and raised in Israel, and educated as an engineer who worked in executive positions in the high-tech industry (CEO, Vic-president, and Chief Marketing officer). Guri moved to the United States 32 years ago. With his distinctively strong and brilliant watercolors, Guri made a name for himself as an artist in Israel, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego where he has participated in numerous shows and exhibitions.

Guri uses his passion for art and music, along with his multi-media lectures to provide a unique perspective by combining different artists’ personal biographies and historical events that influenced artists and art movements.

Guri’s new book: THIRD WIND AND THREE OCEANS AWAY has just been released. It includes two stories that deal with Israeli and Jewish-American identities. They show how these often very different relationships evolve and ultimately get resolved. The stories move between generations and continents, from Israel to Poland to the USA to Australia to Buenos Aires. They bring an interesting perspective on life from a second-generation son to Holocaust survivors.

This program is open to the entire San Diego Community, both men and women. There is no fee,
