Join us on Tuesday, March 16th, 2021 at 12:30 PM PST/ 3:30 PM EST for “Jewish Responsibility in the 21st Century: The Life and Thought of Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks zt’l” led by Rabbi Rafi Zarum.

The former Chief Rabbi of the United Kingdom became one of the leading ambassadors for the Jewish People today, addressing political and religious leaders across the globe about the challenging issues of religion and morality in modern life. But what is his story? How did he become the great teacher, writer and broadcaster lauded by such a diverse range of communities and people? What were his central messages and beliefs? In this session, led by former student Rabbi Rafi Zarum, we will present answers to these questions, punctuated with many personal stories and experiences. Said Rabbi Sacks, “A Judaism divorced from society will be a Judaism unable to influence society. It will live and thrive and flourish behind high walls within its own defensive space, but it will not speak to those who wrestle with the very realities – poverty, disease, injustice, inequality and other assaults on human dignity – to which Torah was directed in the first place… The world needs the Jews, and the Jews need the world. That is the tzav ha-sha’ah, the imperative of our time, and there is much for us to do.”

Rabbi Dr. Raphael Zarum is Dean of the London School of Jewish Studies (LSJS). He has a doctorate in Theoretical Physics, a Masters’ in Education, and is a graduate of the Mandel Leadership School in Jerusalem. Raphael is a sought-after lecturer with wildly innovative and meaningful readings of Torah, Midrash, Talmud and the Jewish festivals that reference modern literature, cinema and culture.
