Friday, February 9, 2018 Learners Shabbat service at 6:15 p.m. and potluck dinner at 7:30 p.m.

Friday, April 13, 2017  Outreach Shabbat service at 6:15 p.m. and catered dinner at 7:30 p.m.

Instructors: Beth Israel Rabbis

Fee: Beth Israel members $225 per individual, $250 per couple*; Nonmembers $275 per individual, $300 per couple*. Fee includes books and Shabbat dinner for registrants. *Couples are two people who register together and share a set of books. There is a $25 fee per guest for Shabbat dinner Friday, April 13, 2018.

This course is designed for newcomers to Judaism as well as those who wish to deepen their knowledge and appreciation of Judaism. You will learn fundamental concepts of Jewish belief and practice and become more comfortable participating in worship and ritual life.

Topics include synagogue geography, Jewish sacred literature, Jewish views of God, the Jewish lifecycle, worship and prayer, the High Holy Days and festivals, the Jewish home, Zionism and Israel, and much more.

Introduction to Judaism is a prerequisite for conversion candidates, Beth Israel members planning to become adult b’nai mitzvah in 2018, and couples planning an interfaith marriage with a Beth Israel officiant.

Complimentary High Holy Days tickets (for September 2018) will be available to those who complete the course.
