Collection benefitting the village of La Guama, in the northwest region of the Dominican Republic

Sunday, January 1 - Friday, February 10

We are excited to announce that a delegation of teens and adults from Beth Israel will be participating in a Service Learning Trip to La Guama, a village in the northwest region of the Dominican Republic. During their time there, they will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by building a home for a local beneficiary family and participating in a cross-cultural exchange. They will also witness firsthand the harsh realities of poverty and have the chance to make a difference in the lives of those in need. To learn more about the trip, visit: https://cbisd.org/programs/dominican-republic-service-learning-trip/

To support these efforts, we are asking our community to help by donating much-needed supplies for the people of La Guama. These supplies include:

  • School supplies such as pencils, pens, paper, and notebooks to help local students succeed in their studies
  • Books in Spanish to promote literacy and provide access to knowledge for the community
  • Sports equipment to promote physical activity and bring joy to the lives of children and adults alike
  • Basic medical supplies for the public health center, including bandages, gauze, and over-the-counter medications

Please bring any items that you are able to donate to the bin located outside of the Sanctuary. Items can be new or gently used. We are grateful for your support and for the chance to make a positive impact in the lives of those in need.
