Does the Bible Take the Bible Literally? Biblical Criticism of Religion with Rabbi Emeritus Michael Berk

Tuesday, February 7 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Tuesday, repeating until Tuesday, February 21, 2023

We tend to think of religion as how we relate to God; how we serve and think of God. In other words, religion is about rituals, rites, and praise of God. The Bible criticizes this understanding of religion. In this class, we will examine how the bible criticizes the temple rites and rituals and how we think of God.

Session I: Do Rituals Protect Us? The Problem of Taking Religion Too Seriously

Session 2: Does God Want our Praise?

Session 3: What is Mature Religion? Particularism vs. Universalism
