DayTimers Speaker Series: Professor Stan Schatt “San Diego’s Jetskys in 2050: A Sneak Preview”

Thursday, October 15, 2020 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Free

What will life in 2050 be like for the Jetskys, an upper-middle-class Jewish family living in San Diego? Based on current research and analysis of technological, cultural, sociological, political, and climate trends, join Dr. Stan Schatt for a sneak peek at a day in the life of this family thirty years from now. He will explore the family’s diet, their mode of transportation, their life at work and play, their educational institutions, and even their teen daughter’s dating habits. You’ll discover how political parties, robots, and even Jewish denominations are likely to evolve from 2020. Schatt will show what films have gotten right about 2020 and what they have gotten wrong.  So, why wait to discover what San Diego in 2050 will be like for your children, your grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and even yourselves (thanks to modern medicine) when you can do so now?

Stan Schatt holds a degree in chemistry and advanced degrees in business and in literature. He headed the Telecommunications Management department at DeVry Institute of Technology, taught at USC and at the University of Houston, as well as served as a Fulbright Professor at Tokyo and Keio Universities. Three different universities have cited Schatt for outstanding teaching. He spent two decades leading groups of industry analysts in forecasting future technology trends for clients that included AT&T, Intel, IBM, and Apple.

Stan is the author of over forty books including college textbooks on computer technology, data communications and telecommunications. He is the author of several books on wireless LAN technology including Understanding Local Area Networks. He is also the co-author of Paint Your Career Green, a book on how to change careers and become a part of the growing field of green technology. In addition, Stan has written mysteries, science fiction, and young adult novels. Currently, Stan teaches a course in Great Decisions for the San Dieguito Chapter of the Brandeis National Committee.
