DayTimers Speaker Series: “M. C. Escher: Mind-bending, Mathematically-Inspired Art” led by Guri Stark

Thursday, November 18, 2021 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Free

“He was a one-off, the greatest one-off in twentieth-century art.” His artworks are some of the most familiar images in modern art. His images were reproduced countless times on posters, mugs, T-shirts, stationary… Yet, most of us really know very little about MC Escher. A genius artist, a one-man art movement. A man with keen observation skills who created visual riddles and optical curiosities. A man who thorough his art represented the infinite, the optical illusions, the metamorphosis and the impossible – all realized by amazing optical tricks. Join us for an afternoon that gives tribute to the amazing mind-bending art of this 20th-century genius artist.

A retired high-tech executive, Guri is a unique artist and musician trapped in the body of an engineer. Guri has been painting in watercolors for over 35 years. “My passion is to capture unique moments and portray feelings and emotions. In my paintings I attempt to convey my combined love of art and music. I find inspiration in the beauty of the shapes of music instruments and of the human figure.” Born in Israel, Guri moved to the United States 35 years ago. With his distinctively strong and brilliant watercolors, Guri made a name for himself as an artist in Israel, Denver Colorado, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego, California where he participated in numerous shows, exhibitions and galleries. Guri is an avid Lerner and teacher of art and history, he was born and raised in Israel, Graduated from Technion with B.Sc and M.Sc in Engineering, has an MBA from Colorado University and worked in executive positions in the high-tech industry (CEO, General Manager, Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer). With his passion for art and music, Guri has been offering art lectures for close to 20 years. His multi-media lectures provide a unique perspective by combining the artists’ personal biographies, world historical events that influenced the artists and their position in the different art movements of the time. Guri is also an author. His first book called “Third Wind” can be found on Amazon:
