DayTimers: Beginners Beading Workshop
Monday, February 27, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm$40 – $50
This class offers an exciting and creative opportunity for beginners and anyone looking to make a stunning and elegant necklace in just a few hours. The class will guide you through the process of stringing beads onto wire, without the need for needles or thread. Each participant will begin with a 36-inch piece of wire, although the recommended length for most necklaces is about 22 inches. The class provides a bead board to design and size the necklace, as well as a collection of beads to choose from to create a necklace similar to the samples provided or to create something unique. If you’re feeling adventurous, there will also be additional beads available to choose from to make something truly one-of-a-kind. In the class, you’ll have the option to use magnetic clasps or masking tape to keep the beads in place during the stringing process. Once completed, the necklace will be finished off with a magnetic clasp and crimped to hold it in place.
The workshop is led by Ellen Kroll. Ellen has been beading for around 22 years. She mainly takes workshops and creates jewelry designed by others, which she often modifies. She has also done some designs of her own. Beading is a hobby for Ellen. She has been a member of the San Diego Bead Society since moving to San Diego in 2004. The society has been a great source of information about beading, lectures, workshops, and friendships for her. One of the first techniques Ellen learned was bead stringing, with and without knotting, and she still makes and wears necklaces using this technique.
This workshop has a class maximum of 8 students. Register today to secure your spot! $50 per person; $40 for Beth Israel members. Beth Israel members: please log into your account to access the member price.
