Cooking with Caring Community with Rabbi Emeritus Michael Berk

FreeBy popular demand, our program recipe has been changed from Cheese Cake to Rabbi Berk’s famous Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe! You don’t want to miss out on this delicious demonstration!
Join us for another wonderful evening of Cooking with Caring Community! Our Host is Rabbi Emeritus Michael Berk and we will be making Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies. This program offers an opportunity for community members to virtually prepare a dish together both for themselves, and to donate to our Caring Community Fill the Freezer program. Containers to donate a dish can be obtained through Caring Community (klindley@cbisd.org).
INGREDIENTS
Yield: 12 to 18 cookies
4 ounces/113 grams unsalted butter at room temperature
½ cup/120 milliliters tahini, well stirred
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons/150 grams all-purpose flour, or matzo cake meal (See tip)
1 cup/200 grams granulated sugar
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1¾ cups/230 grams chocolate chips or chunks, bittersweet or semisweet
1large egg
4 ounces/113 grams unsalted butter at room temperature
Flaky salt, like fleur de sel or Maldon
NOTE: cookie dough should sit overnight in refrigerator
