Deborah Esther Lipstadt is an American historian, best known as the author of the books Denying the Holocaust, History on Trial: My Day in Court with a Holocaust Denier, The Eichmann Trial, and Antisemitism: Here and Now

Dr. Deborah E. Lipstadt, Dorot Professor of Holocaust Studies at Emory University in Atlanta, has published and taught about the Holocaust and antisemitism for close to 40 years.  In August 2021, President Biden nominated her as his Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism Abroad with the rank of Ambassador.   She awaits Senate confirmation.

Professor Lipstadt’s book, ANTISEMITISM: HERE AND NOW has just been published to stellar reviews and been awarded the NATIONAL JEWISH BOOK AWARD.  Publisher’s Weekly  described it as measured and carefully noninflammatory.. intelligent and evenhanded.”  Kirkus described it as a “tour de force.”  The book has already appeared in a German and Hebrew translation and will soon appear in Polish, Italian, and French. She is frequently called upon by the Congress of the United States to testify and consult on contemporary antisemitism.  She testified before the House Foreign Relations Committee in February 2020 on contemporary antisemitism and potential responses by the United States.
