With the tremendous support from their community, Mama’s Kitchen prepares and delivers nutritious meals for their neighbors struggling with AIDS or cancer who are too sick to shop and cook for themselves. Together with hundreds of volunteers, businesses, and community supporters, Mama’s Kitchen strives to help their clients stay healthy, preserve their dignity, and keep their families together by providing free, culturally appropriate home-delivered meals, along with pantry services and nutrition education.

At Mama’s Kitchen, they envision a community where all individuals with critical illnesses are no longer vulnerable to hunger.

This year we have the opportunity to support them through two different virtual fundraisers.

1. 1. Virtual Pantry: As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mama’s Kitchen has experienced a 65% increase in demand for their Home-Delivered Meal Service. They continue to accept new referrals for critically ill clients and their dependent children, to ensure that our most vulnerable neighbors receive the nutrition they need, while remaining safe at home. With increased demand comes increased costs to accommodate our community members and Mama’s Kitchen is asking for your help.Please help us support Mama’s Kitchen by making a Virtual Food Drive donation through our page. The process is fast, easy and secure.

   2. Mama’s Pies Bake Sale: Mama’s Pies is San Diego’s largest Thanksgiving Bake Sale benefiting Mama’s Kitchen. WHAT: Mama’s Kitchen sells Thanksgiving pies that are baked and donated by San Diego’s top local bakeries, restaurants and caterers.WHY: Mama’s Pies Thanksgiving Bake Sale benefits Mama’s Kitchen – San Diego’s only free, countywide, home-delivered meals program for individuals & families affected by HIV, cancer, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease. Each pie purchased provides 12 meals for a critically ill community member.HOW DOES IT WORK?
      • Pies are baked & generously donated by various restaurants, bakeries and caterers.
      • Four delicious pie flavors are offered – pumpkin, pecan, apple, or Dutch apple – for $30 each. Each pie sold allows Mama’s Kitchen to cook, prepare and deliver 12 nutritious meals to our neighbors battling critical illnesses.
      • You can also donate Holiday Feast meals! A $30 Holiday Feast provides 12 meals to a critically ill client – a perfect way to still make a difference if you are out of town or don’t need a pie.
      • Pies can be purchased directly from Mama’s Kitchen or from more than 50 teams and individuals.
      • Individuals, corporations, and groups can further support Mama’s Kitchen by selling pies as individuals or as a team. Sign up to sell Pies.
