“Introduction to Jewish Mysticism and Kabbalah: The World is a Gateway” led by Rabbi Marty Lawson
Tuesday, April 27, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Tuesday, repeating until Tuesday, June 1, 2021
Dates: Tues., April 27, May 4, 11, 25, and June 1, 2021 @ 10:00am-11:30am
The study of Jewish mysticism or Kabbalah is marked by a unique challenge. On one level, the material is easy to grasp. This is due to the fact that the insights which Kabbalah introduces are spiritual in nature. Each of us has the capacity to know the world in a spiritual way.
Yet, on another level, the wisdom of Kabbalah is extraordinarily elusive. Kabbalah addresses some of the most challenging questions people have ever asked – questions about God, the human condition, and the role of the Jew in the world.
This course will only begin to scratch the surface for those “spiritual seekers” who wish to engage with these teachings and enter into self-reflection. All this will be rooted in Kabbalistic source materials, from our text, and many other sources. We will explore the mystical body of literature and traditions; approach difficult Kabbalistic concepts; discover new ways of looking at all of Jewish tradition.
