Wayne Schwartz and his wife, Cindy, have been devoted members of Congregation Beth Israel for over 50 years. Their two children were both called to the Torah as B’nai mitzvah at Beth Israel and later confirmed, and Cindy celebrated her own adult B’nai mitzvah. Today, they are proud grandparents of five.
Wayne has a long history of leadership and service at Beth Israel. He served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee throughout the 1990s and early 2000s and has contributed to the life of the congregation through numerous search committees and other key initiatives. He also served as the synagogue’s first, and ultimately last Ombudsman, offering thoughtful guidance and support to the community. In addition, Wayne co-chaired Rabbi Nevarez’s transition team alongside Robyn Spiegel.
A retired attorney, Wayne has also been actively involved with the JCC, serving in many capacities over the years. When he’s not engaged in community life, you can often find him on the basketball court at the J.
